Oliver Stone, after exploring the JFK conspiracy in 1991 and Richard Milhouse Nixon’s presidential turmoil in 1995, turns his attention to a more recent US president, George W Bush.
The movie jumps backwards and forwards through key moments in Dubya’s life, some of which happened in the eyes of the public, and portrays him as a driven, intelligent, directionless man with father issues who became president because of a lack of anything better to do. The cast is amazing in mimicking their characters, especially Josh Brolin (Planet Terror) as W. National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice (Thandie Newtown, made to look incredibly undesirable) comes off the worst from her portrayal. Was she really that vapid?
